Adora Flora is the people’s Karaoke hostess.
This bright, sweet lady is all business when it comes to music.
She invests in Karaoke. She is diminutive and graceful but has both
feet firmly on the ground.
The clientele (at China Hut) is just as happy to hear her
sing as themselves and they request her often. Flora’s voice is well-schooled,
but with an edge. Her son is also a singer, so it’s a family talent.
It’s a small wonder her fans follow her wherever she sets up.
Flora is proud to offer a calm, friendly, family-like atmosphere
at her Karaoke shows. Her face is very expressive; she can look serious
when relaxing. She transforms from thoughtful to happily animated
in less than a second. She offers a wide variety of songs, including
the sounds of Sweet Georgia Brown (the band), Patsy Cline, Sam and
Dave, Ray Charles and more. Songs made famous by Frank Sinatra and
by The Beatles can appear back-to-back.
Flora’s professional credits include many years of singing
and hosting other singers. She has worked in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii,
and was well-known and well-loved at Werb’s and Jackie Lee’s, locally.
She also offered her popular Karaoke show at The Rimrock for seven
years, Chang’s in Milwaukie and the Gresham Eagles.
Flora provides a value-added service for all Karaoke comers.
A singer can make a list of their favorite songs in their favored
key and Flora stores the information on a file card. When the person
gets up to sing, she pulls out the card and the singer need only
say the name of a tune. Flora can locate the song quickly, because
the database code is included on the card. Songs can be added at
any time at the request of the singer and some singers have two cards
full on both sides!
Flora states her mission: “I try to make it easy for my singers,
especially seniors. I help them a lot.” She also keeps a spare set
of reading glasses for use by anyone who needs them, “In case they
forgot to bring their glasses somehow.” She continues: “I am here
for people. They are nice people. They are like family.”
Adora Flora also offers a CD of her most-requested tunes.
She sings so many, they can’t possibly be listed here, but she does
have a notebook with that information. This writer used up two pages
trying to keep up with the songs she listed. She also can provide
her own professional promotional print material. Her references are
stellar, available on request.
Flora’s following is significant. In addition, she loves performing
at private parties and various events. She can make up a custom set
for your event or club, so the songs can support a themed party or
a certain span of time in history. Everyone benefits when she appears.
Currently, she performs at The China Hut Friday and Saturday nights.
