The Molly Maguires
By Nico Wind
Nestled neatly in the industrial part of N.W. Portland for over 15
years, a little pub called Molly Maguires stands bold and noble.
This preserved historical landmark, owned by Kathleen Morris and Jim
Foster, gives you the feeling of a good landing. It has an aura of future
and past all at once, sort of like third world or Irish shipping yards.
When you go, check out the cool Jetson style lighting.
Bartender Mathew Clark serves customers with a warm smile, along with
a well made beverage from Molly's fully stocked bar.
Molly Maguires now has Karaoke along with it's other forms of entertainment
such as pool, darts and Oregon Lottery. Starting at 9 p.m., Monday and
Tuesday nights Gene Wilson hosts Karaoke. Wednesdays are hosted by wild
and crazy, sinfully fabulous Lightnin' Jones. Thursdays, a new addition
to Molly Maguire's Karaoke host team, "Martha" features theme
Karaoke night. Friday and Saturday nights' host is Kevin Twilleager.
And maybe you can catch Mycki singing there, she is great! Superstar!
Daily menu items include "Monday Burger Madness" and Friday
prime rib reasonably priced and cooked to perfection.
March 17, St. Patrick's Day,Molly Maguires presents an all-day celebration
featuring live band The Sinners Club, Irish stew or corned beef &
cabbage as long as it lasts, green beer and Irish drink specials.
Positively Entertainment writer Dan Golden, who fronts the Sinners
Club, is a veteran musician who has entertained diverse audiences for
years. The Sinners Club is considered a classic rock variety band with
at least one "guaranteed" country song per night. Golden makes
you wanna get up and sing! And the band is seasoned with more than just
salt and pepper.
Located at 2400 N.W. 21st Ave., Molly Maguires is a fine place to sow
yer wild and willy oats until wee hours of the mornin'.
