PSA Road to The Bite of Oregon
With a new home, a new format and a vital mentor pool, the Portland
Songwriters Association is excited to announce that their monthly showcase
has moved to a new venue (Mississippi Pizza), a new night (second Wednesday
of each month), a new feedback form (skills assessed on a scale of
1 to 10) and a new pay off: The Bite of Oregon!
The top three numerical scores, as compiled from the months of April
through July, will earn a showcase slot Sunday, Aug. 14 at the 2005
Bite of Oregon. The PSA will host this final showcase at the state’s
biggest festival and one performer will be selected by a prestigious
mentor panel as “2005 Best of Oregon Singer-Songwriter.”
This series is of note for performing songwriters who want feedback
on refining their craft, both in songwriting and in performance. PSA
members enter for free while non-members can enter for $10.
Ten songwriters each month sign up to play two songs; the second will
earn feedback from a panel of three mentors; one an active performing
songwriter and two with real world experience in the music industry.
There are no “winners” each month, but the highest scoring
songwriter of the night is announced at the close of the showcase.
Scores remain confidential so as not to influence future mentors. All
scores carry over for consideration and writers can enter as many months
as desired. The top three finalists will be announced at the conclusion
of the July 13 showcase.
